1920 and 1940 Census data from 48 Fritz Street Gutowski household in Pittsburgh
48 Fritz Street

Taken in the back yard of 17 Wynoka Street in 1947, most likely Dec 1947. That fall the population of this home grew to 10.  It would soon reach 15-16 before the “Greatest Generation” dispersed in the wind taking their “Baby Boomers” in tow.

From left to right: George Heidekat, Theresa Heidekat, David Juarin, Laura Juarin, Eleanor Panzini, Frank Gutowski.

This was the leading edge of the “Baby Boomer” generation.  After WWII the men returned home from fighting the War to work and really rebuild and retool America to lead the world in freedom and prosperity.  After saving the country and the world family came first.  Women worked hard being mothers and men worked hard being fathers.  Children worked hard being children.  These were remembered as happy times.
